The International Warehouse Logistics Association installed Tom Herche as Chairman for 2014-15 at its recent annual convention in Phoenix.

Herche is President of United Warehouses based in Seattle, with facilities in Portland, Ore., and Renton and Kent in Washington State.

He and his wife, Mary are well known for their commitment to their community. They are major supporters of Childhaven, which battles child neglect and abuse; the Healing Center, a grief support community; Rebuilding Together Seattle, providing low-income home repair; the National Multiple Sclerosis Society regional chapter and Rotary Boys & Girls Club.

Tom Herche previously served as IWLA Vice Chairman and a chairman of its Convention & Expo Planning Committee. He succeeds Paul Verst, President of Verst Group Logistics of Hebron and Walton, KY, who continues to serve on the IWLA Executive Committee as Immediate Past Chairman.

Other new officers are: Vice Chairman, Rob Doyle, Vice President of Business Development, Commercial Warehousing Inc., Winter Haven FL; Treasurer, Mark DeFabis, President, Integrated Distribution Services, Plainfield, IN; and Secretary, Cliff Otto, President, Saddle Creek Corporation, Lakeland, FL.

The association renamed its annual industry service recognition as The Jock Menzies IWLA Distinguished Service & Industry Award to honor the memory of the late president of The Terminal Corporation, an ACWI-member company.

A former board member of IWLA, Menzies is recognized for his outstanding service to the industry, his community and the nation, including co-founding the American Logistics Aid Network, which he headed until his death last year.

The 2014 IWLA award was presented to Joel D. Anderson, who retired last year after serving as the President and CEO of the association since 2006.
