A large number of employees say they have no intention of taking the Covid 19 vaccine, reveals the Society for Human Resource Management.

A recent survey of human resources professionals and employees finds that 60% of workers will probably or definitely get the vaccine once it becomes available, but about 28% say they won’t get vaccinated, even if it means losing their jobs.

“Human resources professionals and organizations will have to factor in measures to account for the potentially large number of unvaccinated workers,” according to SHRM.

Among SHRM’s other survey findings:

• Over a third of U.S. workers say they would accept a reduction in salary if it means they could choose to permanently work from home on a full-time basis (35%).

• More than half of workers would choose to permanently work from home full-time if given the option (52%). Within this group, 45% would accept up to a 5% reduction in salary to work from home on a full-time basis, and 8% would accept up to a 20% reduction or more in their salary.

• About 60% of organizations say they will not require the vaccine, and 35% are unsure whether they will require the vaccine for employees.

• At least 74% of organizations that are unsure or not planning to require vaccines for their employees will still encourage their employees to get the Covid- 19 vaccine.

• A third of U.S workers believe the Covid 19 vaccine should be mandatory for everyone who is able to receive it (33%).

• Most organizations (88%) are unsure or are not offering or planning to offer any incentives to encourage employees to get the Covid 19 vaccine.

In addition, 27% of employers plan to bring all employees back when vaccine is widely available.
