The American Logistics Aid Network has laid plans for dealing further with a year already been made estremely challenging by the Coronavirus.

ALAN members provide in-kind supply chain services and expert supply chain management consultation to organizations and government agencies that deal with natural disasters and other public crises, such as the American Red Cross.

Earlier this year, it launched the ALAN Supply Chain Intelligence Center, offering a cloud-based, real-time view of the Covid-19 impacts in the form of an easy-to-use map (AA, 4-30-20, P. 3).

The map reports on the current status of roads, ports and airports as well as describing the latest policy changes at national, state, local and county levels that impact the delivery of logistics services.

On its website, ALAN lists opportunities for industry providers to supply transportation and warehouse services where they are needed most.

“All of this great work continues to happen because of businesses who are willing to share their resources and expertise, sponsors who ensure that we have the necessary funding, and the many amazing volunteers who pull it all together,” says ALAN Executive Director Kathy Fulton.

“Because when our non-profit partners asked for assistance, we were able to deliver time and time again thanks to our amazing logistics partners.”

The organization is already preparing for the upcoming hurricane season that will kick off later this suimmer.

“Our first priority will be providing humanitarian logistics support to impacted areas while also continuing to support relief efforts for other active disasters, including COVID-19,” Fulton stresses.

ALAN offers the industry an updated STORM Advisory, supplementing information supplied on its Disaster Micro-site and the ALAN Supply Chain Intelligence Center.
